An unconventional route
Melissa Phair never took the expected path. She began with a degree in Mathematics and Physics, a life of logic, before trading equations for the open sea and spending over fifteen years as an Executive Chef aboard private superyachts. The role carried her to more than 100 countries and some of the most extraordinary places on earth: Mediterranean coastlines, hidden island escapes, harbours few will ever set eyes on. Those years, immersed in the world's cultures, architecture, craftsmanship and style, became the eye that shapes every PHAIR collection today.
Born on the street, made by hand
The clothes began almost by accident. Rarely near a high street, and unwilling to treat Hermès like a weekly shop, Melissa started having pieces made by hand wherever she landed: shoes with women's cooperatives in Morocco, trousers with master tailors in India, tailoring in Vietnam. Artisans, not factories. Everywhere she went, strangers would stop her to ask where she'd found what she was wearing. The answer was always the same. She'd designed it herself, and had it made. PHAIR grew out of those conversations.
